Previous JVP pioneer Somawansa Amarasinghe expressed that he needed to bolster previous President Mahinda Rajapaksa when Wimal Weerawansa split far from the JVP and joined the Rajapaksa camp.
Identifying with BBC, Amarasinghe said that he didn't make the move since he needed to bring the gathering with him.
On the other hand, he needed to scrutinize the Rajapaksa government taking into account the party's position, Amarasinghe further kept up.
Amarasinghe pointed out that the choice to join Weerawansa for the following Local Government Elections was a piece of the counter settler battle. Indeed, even President Maithripala Sirisena could join this camp one day, he said, indicating out that anybody is welcome go along with them.
