DMK president M Karunanidhi on Wednesday blamed the Center and state government for "mechanically" taking care of the capture of Tamil Nadu anglers by Sri Lanka and requested "concentrated" endeavors to comprehend the decades-old issue.
"No helpful step appears to have been taken (by the Center and State) to take care of the long time issue of anglers," he said.
Refering to the persistent captures of the state's anglers, he said, "the Central and State governments are placating (individuals) by mechanically composing letters" and blamed them for "shunning an enthusiastic way to deal with the unendingly proceeding with travails of Tamil Nadu anglers."
"I ask that in any event starting now and into the foreseeable future Central and State governments ought to take useful and escalated endeavors to guarantee that Tamil Nadu anglers are not influenced in future," he said in an announcement.
Alluding to the capture of 34 Tamil Nadu anglers on October 26, he said the anglers were constantly being focused on.
He excoriated Lankan clergymen and powers for talking in an appeasing tone while coming to India and taking an opposing stand when they come back to their nation over the anglers issue.
Karunanidhi alluded to a reported remark of Sri Lankan Fisheries Director General MCL Fernando that his country was considering forcing substantial fine on anglers who traverse to their region.
