Assaults By SL Navy, Opposition Force Fishermen To Leave For Kerala

Incessant assaults by Sri Lankan maritime faculty and resistance by anglers there to carrying out their specialty in Katchatheevu islet has constrained an expanding number of anglers from Tamil Nadu to leave for Kerala for a steady pay, the Fishermen's Association said on Sunday.

Successive assaults by Sri Lankan naval force and restriction from anglers there in permitting us past Katchatheevu has made them go to Kerala, where they will get a steady pay," N J Bose and S Emerit of the Fishermen's Association said.


They said anglers from this island, which they guaranteed has the most extreme number of motorized water crafts in Tamil Nadu, had left for work to Kerala, leaving pontoon proprietors hanging.

Authorities said just 61 pontoons from this island left for ocean today however consent had been conceded for 667 water crafts.
