Rishad Bathiudeen Issued Notice By Court Of Appeals On Wilpattu Petition

The Court of Appeals today issued notification on Minister Rishad Bathiudeen to show up in court on September 16 as to a writ request documented by the Center for Environmental Justice against the illicit clearing of Wilpattu and unlawful settlement on the contiguous range.

The Center for Environmental Justice requested of the Court of Appeal on July 16, looking for a writ request against the clearing of the Wilpattu National Park and unlawful settlement of individuals in the contiguous zones.
Pastor Rishad Bathiudeen, Central Environment Authority, Controller General of Forests, Director General of Wildlife Department, Director General of Archeology, Mannar District Secretary, and the Attorney General are among the respondents.





The solicitor said that Bathiudeen was in charge of the preparation of clearing the timberland and developing unlawful settlements.

The solicitor additionally said that 2000ha of woodland has been cleared and 12,500 families have been resettled under the appearance of settling IDPs.
