Derbyshire CCC: Tillakaratne Dilshan goes home as district look to future

TILLAKARATNE Dilshan's sad stay with Derbyshire is over.

In the wake of being let alone for the side for the current LV County Championship match against Kent, the 38-year-old has gone home to Sri Lanka and won't be returning, however first class execution chief Graeme Welch says there are no hard emotions on either side.
Dilshan's brief time as Derbyshire's abroad marking needs to go down as a tremendous disappointment. He scored just 69 keeps running in six Championship innings, hit one 50 in five NatWest t20 Blast recreations and found the middle value of 8.66 in three Royal London Cup matches.

In any case, he has the record of one of the best batsmen of his era, with more than 14,000 List A runs, barely shy of the same count in the five star diversion and eye-getting numbers in t20s. It simply didn't work out for him at Derbyshire and Welch said that couldn't be anticipated.
